What do I have to do if I buy a used car from an out-of-state dealer?

I need to buy a used-car from a dealer in Virginia and then drive it all the way up to Michigan. What all will I have to do when I buy the car, while driving the car across different state, and finally while registering the car in Michigan ?

    you need transportation plates and correct paper works

    get a temp plate from the state where you purchased it. you have to register the car in your home state
